Road Sector Support Project

The objective of the Roads Sector Support Project for Ethiopia is to reduce travel time and cost along selected inter-regional corridors and support the sustainability of the federal road network. There are three components to the project, the first component being upgrading of critical link road. The second component is the support to enhancing road asset management practice. This component will provide for the maintenance of networks of selected roads with a total length of about 200 km, the preparation of a road asset management strategy, bidding document preparation for road asset management and technical assistance to strengthen road asset management capacity. Government of Ethiopia (GoE) will fund a further 200 km of road under a parallel financing. Finally, the third component is the support to road safety and institutional development.
