Description | The principal objectives of the project are to: (a) enhance the efficiency of public expenditure on roads by supporting continued improvements in management, planning and programming techniques, and by increasing the proportion of works carried out by competitive contracting; (b) address the backlog of rehabilitation works, and (c) improve road safety. The project will include: (1) road and bridge rehabilitation; (2) road maintenance equipment to replace obsolete equipment for functions the national roads administration will continue to perform itself; (3) a road safety program; and (4) technical assistance and training, especially to update standards and practices for road design, environmental protection, pavement technology, and management systems. |
