Description
Description | One of the most important maritime objectives of Rockport is tourism. By opening up access to this pristine 29-acre island for the first time in over 80 years, it will attract boaters, kayakers, hikers, bird watchers and people wishing to tour both the historic lighthouse and the keeper’s house. Currently, fewer than 50 visitors land on the island each year. This is mainly due to the lack of a proper and safe landing facility. The Town expects to increase that number exponentially once a ramp has been built. Walking trails have been established, the keeper’s house and the lighthouse have been already restored. |
