Description | The Rogfast Tunnel is a massive underwater road tunnel project in southwestern Norway, designed to be the world's longest and deepest underwater road tunnel. It will stretch nearly 17 miles (27 kilometers) beneath the Boknafjord and Kvitsøyfjord, connecting Randaberg and the municipality of Bokn. The tunnel will have two separate tunnels for northbound and southbound traffic, with emergency passages every 250 meters. It includes an underground roundabout connecting to the island of Kvitsøy, the deepest undersea road junction ever built. The project aims to make the E39 coastal highway ferry-free, significantly reducing travel time between Bergen and Stavanger. |
