It will be 27 km (17 miles) long and plunge nearly 400 meters (1,312 feet) below sea level, connecting the districts of Randaberg and Bokn. The tunnel will have four lanes, two in each direction, and aims to cut travel time significantly by eliminating ferry rides along the coastal highway E39. Construction started in 2018, with a target completion year of 2033. The project cost is estimated at nearly $2 billion, funded by government support and tolls. |
