Description | The project entails the development and operation of a 147 MW wind power farm located in Karoo, South Africa. The project is sponsored by Building Energy. Project was awarded as part of the fourth round of REIPPP programme issued by South Africa’s Department of Energy. As a result of the competitive bidding process, the sponsor was granted a 20-year PPA with Eskom, a public-sector utility. The bid criteria was lowest tariff per unit of energy. Roggeveld wind farm has a total cost of around EUR 305 million ($376 million). The Development Bank of Southern Africa and Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) provided the debt financing for the plant.
