Information National Mineral Development Corporation Limited [NMDC] has come up with Rohne Coal Block with a ticket size of 2458 INR Crores. This project in Coal sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Not Applicable Economic/Social Impact of the Project 1. Rohne coal Block is a Coking Coal block with Total resource of 421MT, Reserves of 191MT and production capacity of 8MTPA Per Annum. 2. The coal mine has been allotted to NMDC on 17.06.2021 under section 5 of Coal Mines Special Provisions Act 2015 after intervention of highest Authority of Govt. of India. The coal mine was previously with M/s Rohne coal company Private Limited. 3. After allotment of Coal mine the coal mine NMDC has obtained transfer of EC on 28.10.2021, transfer of Stage I FC 16.11.2021 pertaining to Mining area. However in obtaining Stage II FC, NMDC is facing issue in complying the Compensatory Afforestation related condition. After obtaining transfer of Sage I FC, NMDC in December 2021 requested for modification in stage I FC' s CA land related condition as to raise CA over degraded forest land twice the extent of the land required. However the same has been rejected by MoEF&CC on 30.04.2024. Therefore, NMDC vide letter dated 27.05.2024 requested Govt. of Jharkhand to provide Govt. land that are suitable for CA. 4. As per the time line committed in allotment agreement & allotment order the mine is required to operationalize by 18.09.2025.
