Roig Arena Basketball Stadium

completed

Roig Arena is a new multipurpose basketball stadium in Valencia, Spain, built for the men's and women's professional basketball teams of the Valencia Basket Club. The arena is part of a broader civic space including a plaza with green space, playground, ball courts, walking paths, and a market hall with restaurants and bars. The arena features a fluid, scaly facade of ceramic tiles, is sunk into the ground to reduce its height relative to the neighborhood, and accommodates over 15,000 people for basketball games and up to 20,000 for concerts. The project emphasizes sustainability, community integration, and financial sustainability, being privately financed by Juan Roig, owner of the Valencia Basket Club and Mercadona supermarket chain.
