One common challenge in rural societies is that young people move away from their local communities in order to find work and education. Since traditional jobs today become more and more scarce in rural areas, young people need knowledge about entrepreneurship if they want to make a living independently in their local communities. It’s important that young people learn how to work in an international business environment, and that they get skills in understanding the cultures of their neighbors. However, the work with youth entrepreneurship that exists today has a mainly local and national perspective. Both youth business coaches and volunteer mentors from private enterprises are local. We want to give young people experiences of cross-border cooperation, and create student companies that cooperate and develop ideas together, with an international perspective present from the very first day of idea development. The overall objective of the project is to develop young people’s knowledge about entrepreneurship. The young participants will get basic knowledge about entrepreneurship, and they will have a more positive attitude towards entrepreneurship in the future. The term entrepreneurship is usually used only in connection to the basic knowledge about running a business. In this project, we will work with both internal and external entrepreneurship. The project will also link financial literacy to media literacy, and the project will have a pioneering approach to working with young entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative field.During the project, approximately 20 joint student companies will be established. The networks between the young participants that are created during their work with the joint student companies can become starting points for new, creative and competitive cross-border companies in the future.
