Description

Description

Access to education and therefore access to employment opportunities for Roma in Serbia is poor, as in all central and southeastern European countries. As the largest minority in Europe, Roma are often disadvantaged, and not just in the education sector. This is where the project comes in to increase the Roma's chances of participating in society and finding a way out of poverty by improving access to education and promoting entry into the job market. The project is being implemented by the Roma Education Fund (REF) as the sponsor. The German contribution consists of a grant of EUR 2,373,950 (phase 1) for the implementation of suitable measures to achieve the objectives. In a follow-up phase (stocktake audit), a further EUR 3 million may be made available as a grant. Objectives The aim of the FC module is to improve the integration of Roma by improving education and employment opportunities. The target group of the project is, on the one hand, Roma adolescents and young adults who should benefit from measures to promote education in secondary school and the promotion of employability, and, on the other hand, Roma who are returning from Germany to Serbia.
