Description
Description | Healthcare providers and health institutions must balance protecting patient privacy while delivering quality services and meeting regulatory requirements such as NIS Directive or GDPR. ICT infrastructures and big data are critical to the healthcare sector. Due to the large connectivity the risk exposure and attack surface of this sector is increasing. Cyber-attacks endanger the welfare of patients and the safety and privacy of sensitive healthcare personal data. On top of that, cyber security threats are also caused by human errors, due to a lack of training, insufficient knowledge on vulnerabilities, threat actors, or of the involved healthcare sector tools and technologies. This project will support implementation of objectives and requirements under the NIS Directive for the Romanian healthcare and health institutions, which have been put under particular stress over the recent years. The COVID-19 crisis puts an enormous pressure on the healthcare system, thus an increased resilience and limiting the impact of cyber incidents being a major concern. The overall objective of the project is to reduce cyber security risks and increase awareness, in order to increase patient safety and trust in the Romanian healthcare system and institutions. The consideration and prediction of new types of required skills for healthcare practitioners and end-users is critical, due to the deployment of new digital technologies and services such as big data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions, or innovative and smart medical devices. Moreover, the RO-CCH will promote sharing best practices among cyber security and healthcare communities, in order to increase awareness of cyber security threats and vulnerabilities, as well as sharing tools, methods, organisational and management practices with the overall aim to define collaborative inter-disciplinary schemes tailored to this environment. Cross-border solutions will be prioritised. |
