Description | The Rook I Project is a large uranium mine under development by NexGen Energy Ltd. in the Athabasca Basin in northern Saskatchewan, Canada. The project has received provincial approval, passed environmental reviews, and signed agreements with First Nations. It aims to produce approximately 25% of the world's uranium once in production, with construction expected to employ around 2,600 people and 1,400 people when completed. The project is licensed to extract 30 million pounds of uranium per year and is expected to pay $6 billion in royalty payments to the Saskatchewan government over 10 years. |
