Roseway Manor - Facility Upgrades

The project consists of three components: 1) Remodel the Central hall ; 2) Renovate the Alzheimer Care Unit (ACU); and 3) Replace the outdated security system. Rationale: 1) The remodel of the central hall will see: the repurposing of spaces that will provide better resident service and care by relocating the existing nursing desk and remodelling the "nursing desk area"; renovating underutilized closet/storage space; and creating a staff coat/locker area. This work will expand the capacity and increase functionality by providing a usable “Resident Focused” floor plan that conforms to the present needs of the residents and staff; 2) Renovating the Alzheimer Care Unit will include: a) repurposing the existing space by flipping the existing dining room/kitchen and resident lounge areas. This will provide room for residents to socially distance during mealtimes, activities, gatherings; b) removing unsuitable wall finishes - brick and rough, unfinished wood - which does not allow for proper cleaning and disinfecting; c) moving the entrance of the staff washroom out of the kitchen/dining room and into the main hallway; d) creating an accessible exit into the main outside courtyard from the resident lounge; e) redesigning the kitchen/dining room area to accommodate residents’ physical needs; and f) adding a tub/shower for the ACU residents; and 3) replacing the outdated security system to include cameras and lighting and expand the current security coverage to include unmonitored and unlocked doors. This project will increase security and safety.
