Rosie and Sapphire

“Rosie and Sapphire” is a TV series for preschool children of 26 episodes of 5-minute stories about the magical power of kind-hearted actions. Rosie, the main character, is a 5-year-old, extremely curious little girl. She lives in a house in the middle of a pink grassy meadow near the forest with her mysterious friend Sapphire, the wise horse who always helps her. She loves to explore her surroundings together with her three friends who live in the neighborhood, Bertie, Liz and Edmund. Not only is she curious about the world around her, but she is also very interested in other people and their feelings and opinions. The series is aiming to be a high quality European IP with the potential to be widely distributed on linear TV and platforms internationally. It is a collaboration of three companies from three different language territories: Artichoke from Slovakia, CUB Animation from Hungary and Staragara IT from Italy. It combines the colorful, unique and playful visual style of Anna Katalin Lovrity, which bears the signature of the famous Budapest animation school MOME, with a friendly and empathetic feeling and carefully crafted stories. It will be made in 2D animation, with a significant creative and technological input from the experienced Bratislava based studio Blue Faces, that has capacities and previous experience in the Toon Boom animation pipeline. The project is currently in development, with a defined visual style, characters and universe. The co-development plans to combine talent and heads of departments from all three territories, including co-directing credits and significant split of work on all 26 episodes. The aim of the co-development is to combine the specific knowledge of all three partners, share the creative process in translating the concept into a well prepared TV Series ready for production, create a pilot episode and explore all three markets and territories for possible production funding and future international distribution.
