Round Top Rare Earth Project

The Round Top project by USA Rare Earth in Hudspeth County, Texas, is a rare earth and technology-metal deposit with strategic importance for heavy rare earths and technology metals. The project aims to establish a domestic supply chain for rare earths and semiconductor-related materials, supported by a $14.18 million grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund. However, the project faces challenges related to the economic viability of processing low-grade polymetallic ore at an industrial scale, separation economics, permitting, financing, downstream integration, and customer qualification. The target for commercial production is late 2028.
