The project involves the second concession of the section of Ruta 5 Sur between Río Bueno and Puerto Montt, covering approximately 129 km of highway. It includes upgrading and modernizing the road infrastructure to improve safety, capacity, and connectivity in southern Chile. The works will involve adding third lanes along about 79 km of the highway, constructing new interchanges, bridges, and vehicle crossings, rehabilitating existing pavement, and implementing electronic toll collection systems (Multi-Lane Free Flow). The project will also include improvements such as pedestrian walkways, bus stops, service roads, drainage systems, lighting, and around 33 km of bicycle paths. Overall, the concession aims to enhance transportation efficiency and road safety for residents and freight traffic traveling between the regions of Los Ríos and Los Lagos.
