Opportunity The Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) Redevelopment Project will be phased to allow the continuity of hospital services throughout construction, demolition, and renovation work. Due to the complexity involved in this multi-purpose, multi-phase project, work has been broken into three phases: Phase One: foundational elements for the site in preparation for subsequent phases Phase Two: Anticipated to include a new 350-bed Acute Care Tower with a new and expanded emergency department  Multiple floors for acute and critical care patients An Emergency Department with satellite medical imaging unit An interventional floor with operating rooms, interventional radiology and cardiology suites, recovery suites An underground parkade, main entrance, and rooftop heliport Energy centre equipment, information management/information technology infrastructure;  and demolition of some existing buildings Phase Three: Anticipated to include renovations in the existing Health Care Centre and Columbia Tower to improve care delivery on the site Phase one is being pursued through traditional procurement. Phases two and three are currently in the business case development stage.
