Royalty Centre Electrical Service Upgrade

The provincially owned Royalty Centre is a two storey, 155,000 sq.ft. facility built in 1962, that still operates with the original electrical substation. The work of this project will be to install a new 347/600Volt, 600Amp, 3 Phase switchboard, a 347/600Volt panel board, two 150KVA 600V-120/208Volt dry type transformers and two 120/208Volt, 3 Phase panel boards. Improved efficiency will be accomplished in the replacement of the 4160Volt to 120/208Volt transformer with the two new dry type transformers. A failure of the system could result in an extended period of time without a source of power and under this situation would be substantially higher cost to repair. Any of these failures would significantly affect government operations.This project will address operational issues that have been further stressed during the ongoing pandemic and support economic recovery through investment in the community by stimulating construction in central Prince Edward Island.
