Description | In May 2016, the Italian group Enel Green Power, through its Peruvian renewable energy subsidiary Enel Green Power Peru (EGPP), was awarded the contract to build and operate the Rubi solar power plant, located at Moquegua District (180 MW in capacity). The public renewable energy tender was launched in 2015 by energy regulator OSINERGMIN. Information on the other bidders was not disclosure. The bidding criteria was the lowest tariff. Enel was awarded a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines, and the contract was signed in 2016. The investment was estimated at US$ 170 million, and it was financed with sponsor’s equity. Constructions started in November 2016, and commercial operations were scheduled to begin in 2018. |
