Description

Description

The project consists of installing water and sewer pipes along 1.1 kilometres of Rue Marcoux including changing the drainage systems under the road. 22 homes will be added to the Town’s sewage system which will eliminate problematic septic fields which threaten to contaminate the water table. The project includes the connection of 22 homes to the municipal water network which will ensure access to potable water for residents and eliminate 22 wells which are a potential risk to the water table. The pipes will be installed up to the limits of the residential properties, however it is incumbent on the land owners to install the connections between the municipal services and the residential infrastructure. No work will be done on private property or on private infrastructure. The project consists of redoing the ditching and the drainage pipes along the road to ensure the best runoff drainage possible. This will mitigate the risk of flooding and erosion due to climate change. This work will provide a better drainage on the road that will protect the structure. In addition to the work already completed, the new scope of work includes the modernization of six lift stations, which will also help reduce the risk of flooding in low-lying areas of the village. It was also recommended that the town continue with server upgrades to become SCADA-compliant, to ensure more effective monitoring, and to create system redundancy. The work will also include the installation of two submersible pumps to combat flooding.
