Description
Description | The Rugby Roots: Cultivating Life Skills and Unity in Youth (RR-CLUE) project emerges from an urgent need to address the challenges of engaging teenagers in consistent physical activity and leveraging sports, specifically rugby, as a platform for holistic education. This initiative is particularly timely, considering the sensitive current context for sports clubs focusing on under-18 teams. The task of maintaining teenagers' engagement in sports clubs and preventing their shift to other activities has been exacerbated by recent global disruptions, which have significantly impacted regular sports practice and physical activity habits. Our project's primary aim is to create and implement a rugby-based educational toolkit for developing life skills among amateur players aged 13-18. Our goals include: • Establishing a durable European network for sustained impact. • Sharing 10+ best practices for teaching life skills through sports. • Creating a toolkit with 9+ Learning Units for educators and sports mentors. • Promoting the advantages of rugby for life skill development to over 150 stakeholders, ensuring at least 40% female participation. Planned Activities: • Conducting research and assessments. • Toolkit design and development. • Pilot testing and full implementation. • Broad dissemination. Expected Outcomes: • Engaging 8,000 teenagers, introducing them to life skill enhancement techniques via sports. • Reaching 40 sports clubs and 40 educational centers to share insights on adolescent life skill development through rugby. • Informing 10,000 parents and citizens about the benefits of physical activity and community involvement in sports for healthy adolescent development. • Providing 180 coaches and PE teachers with resources to support teenage life skill growth through sports. |
