Description
Description | The main objective of the Module is to provide detailed and up-to-date information on the rule of law, democracy and human rights as elements of cohesion and survival of the European Union, as well as to identify areas for action and improvement. It is necessary to increase awareness of the importance of the rule of law, democracy and human rights as essential values, principles and areas of action to strengthen the European Union as an integration area in accordance with the Constitutive Treaties of the organisation. The identification of areas of action and improvement of these three areas of the European Union is important to foster a deeper understanding and commitment to these values in the face of the growing challenges and risks that threaten the progress of European integration across the European continent. This objective will be achieved with the involvement in the module of several universities, institutes and research centres from Bulgaria, Hungary, Spain, Portugal, Poland, North Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Serbia. This involvement of several countries will allow for a much deeper and more detailed approach to the visions and perspectives of various regions of the European continent on how to plan and carry out these actions to consolidate the European Union based on strengthening the rule of law, democracy and human rights. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, the module will be addressed to a broad audience in European civil society, primarily students, legal practitioners, diplomatic and consular officials. The project consists of a training course and two annual seminars, which will examine the political and legal foundations of the rule of law, democracy and human rights, from the perspective of the policies implemented by the European Union and based on the values and principles that underpin it. |
