The DARAL II FC module is intended to rehabilitate and strengthen small storage basins or comparable infrastructure. In addition, complementary advisory and investment measures are intended to facilitate the productive use of small storage basins and improve the living conditions and development opportunities of the people in the project region. The project is co-financed by an EU mandate. The specific individual measures of the module are being developed in a participatory process (preparation of local action plans for integrated water resources management) with the population and the Tunisian partners. They are mentioned here only as examples: 1. Rehabilitation or expansion of small storage basins or comparable infrastructure; 2. Measures to improve the value of water resources and operations (e.g. rehabilitation or installation of pumps and other irrigation infrastructure, equipment for user groups); 3. Resource protection measures and measures to promote the lifespan of the storage basins (e.g. reforestation to protect against erosion); 4. Complementary measures to promote rural development and employment (e.g. rural road construction, creation of storage capacity, micro-projects to increase income, drinking water and wastewater measures, improvement of existing schools and/or health stations). 5. Training and further education for the target group (particularly for agricultural activities and support of income-increasing measures), the user groups of the water infrastructure, as well as the administration to strengthen capacity in project implementation and for the sustainable management of the infrastructure provided.
