The project aims to contribute to improving the socio-economic living conditions of the rural population in the project regions in Laos. To this end, funds for the LEP II were pledged during government negotiations in November 2018, which will allow the rehabilitation and expansion of around 60 km of rural roads in Khamouane province. To additionally promote economic activities and improve the situation of local residents, smaller construction projects are to be carried out in the neighboring villages as needed. These additional measures will enable better exploitation of the development potential opened up by the rehabilitated roads. Such measures can be used to respond flexibly to local obstacles and deficits and to eliminate them in a target group-oriented manner. The FC program thus has a more holistic approach and is more effective.
