Rural electrification II

The project comprises the second phase of the Rural Electrification Program with the aim of expanding the national power grid in southern Shan State and providing households and businesses with electricity connections. This project therefore serves to implement the National Electrification Plan (NEP). The project sponsor is to be the Ministry of Electric Power (MoEP). The aim of the project is to improve the living conditions of the rural population in the target regions in a quantitative and qualitative way. The target group are consumers who live within a few kilometers of the national power grid and who do not currently have a grid connection. The expanded access to reliable and affordable electrical energy will lead to both improved conditions for households (better lighting & information gathering, use of electrical devices) and to increased productive activity in the target region.
