Description | The Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) supports energy projects across rural America, helping farmers and small businesses invest in renewable energy and energy efficiency systems such as wind and solar technologies. In 2022, REAP projects saved and generated enough energy to power over 250,000 homes. The program has been reauthorized multiple times since its creation in the 2008 Farm Bill. However, the USDA announced restrictions on assistance for wind and solar projects under REAP, which could make about 70% of these projects ineligible under new criteria. |
