Description
Description | The project includes measures to improve the reproductive health of the poorer population in the northern regions of Pakistan. The availability and quality of health services for reproductive health is inadequate, especially in these regions, and the unmet need for family planning remains high. The aim of the FC project is to improve the quality of the service provided and to increase the use of services in the area of sexual and reproductive health and rights in the program region. In order to achieve the most comprehensive possible supply of the market, the expansion of existing approaches by various private sector organizations (NGOs) is to be supported. The current program is to be implemented not only via the NGO Greenstar, but also via the NGOs DKT, Rahnuma/FPAP and Aga Khan Health Services Pakistan (AKHSP). As part of the project, the existing networks of these NGOs are to be expanded to other underserved regions in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), northern Punjab, FATA and Gilgit Baltistan with particularly low indicators for maternal and child health. The total cost of implementing Phase I of the project, which is scheduled to run for three years, is estimated at around EUR 8.9 million. The FC funds of EUR 7.5 million will cover all of the foreign exchange costs and part of the national implementation costs. The difference will be financed from the expected sales revenues of contraceptives and services of EUR 1.3 million and from the NGOs' own contributions of EUR 0.2 million. |
