The aim of the project is to consolidate the positive results of the previous project phases and expand them regionally. The aim of the project is to make a contribution to economic and social development and to poverty reduction among the rural population in the program region. To achieve this, rural roads in particular are to be rehabilitated and made accessible all year round. Further promotion of economic activity and income generation will be achieved through the additional construction of a central market. The increasing impact of storms and heavy rainfall in recent years will be taken into account by paying particular attention to adapting to climate change. The new program phase will implement these measures in four new provinces. These are the north-western provinces of Banteay Meanchey, Otdar Meanchey as well as Battambang and Preah Vihear. To ensure sustainability, the introduction and use of a modern, computer-aided maintenance management system is also being sought in the new program provinces. Supplemented by an A+F measure worth The Ministry for Rural Development (MRD) will receive EUR 0.8 million in support of the modernization and nationwide introduction of a uniform management system. The total cost of the project is EUR 12.1 million. An FC grant of up to EUR 11 million was promised during the government negotiations in 2013 to finance the measures.
