Description
Description | The Uniplex recreation facility consists of a hockey arena, curling rink and indoor swimming pool. A complete overhaul of the hockey arena roof and an expansion to the landing viewing area, improving accessibility to the hockey arena while increasing socially distant viewing capacity is needed. In the previous 5 years arena upgrades included: the pool roof project, pool ventilation, curling rink roof project, curling rink ventilation, hub roof project, ice rink refrigeration system replacement, hockey arena boards replacement and boiler replacement - leaving the hockey arena upgrades. Project includes: two new viewing and access platforms; each complete with stairs and handrails; completion of south platform includes a wheelchair ramp for accessibility; and accessibility doors from the hub to the arena portion; and repair of the roof over the hockey arena. To rectify issues roof panels will be sealed/missing fasteners replaced and existing drip edge/flashing will be removed and replaced. The entire roof surface will be covered with a vapour barrier and Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) roofing system over top of the existing metal sheeting and eaves troughs will be replaced. The pool, curling and hub sections of the roof have been repaired using this method and we have been completely satisfied with the results. The Rural Municipality of Monet No. 257 and the Town of Elrose have jointly created an Emergency Response Plan, which lists the hockey arena as a temporary morgue if needed; and lists the Uniplex recreation facility as the Evacuation Centre. |
