Description

The 2RID Project's development objective is to participate in strengthening cross-border flows through the improvement of the political dialogue around the poles of economic development and sub-regional corridors within the K2M regions, in 3 Nigerian regions (Tahoua-Maradi-Zinder) & the northern States of Nigeria of Kebbi-Sokoto-Zamfara-Katsina-Kano-Jigawa-Bauchi. The EU-AITF TA grant, for which CDP (replacing SIMEST) is the Lead Financier, will be used for the Regional Trade Integration component of the project and aims at providing the project partners with the opportunity to participate in the strengthening of cross-border trade flow through better political dialogue for connectivity centres of economic development and sub-regional corridors. The first tranche received by CDP has been used to review the status of the activities and define a work plan for the next years. As of 30 June 2019 discussions are ongoing with International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in order for IFAD to carry out the activities related to the EU funds. The final agreement between CDP and IFAD is currently under negotiation and the starting date of the activities is envisaged before the end of 2019.
