Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project

The Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project for Morocco will support the Government of Morocco's program to increase sustainable access to potable water supply in rural areas, while promoting improved wastewater management and hygiene practices. The project has the following components: Component 1) Implementation of a program of sub-projects, consisting in the carrying out of works and the provision of technical assistance (TA) to deliver water supply to villages through construction of lateral mains from existing or planned regional trunk lines. Component 2) includes: (a) the design, construction and supervision of village distribution systems with meters, providing HCs to users; and (b) the mitigation measures required to handle the resulting increase in wastewater flows. Component 3) will reinforce National Potable Water Authority (ONEP's) capacity to implement the project and provide support to the Water Users' Association (WUAs) local organizations responsible for operation and maintenance.
