Marin Transit purchased 2.5 acres of property at 600 Rush Landing Rd in Novato in 2020 with the intent to use the space for bus parking. The footprint is narrow and constrained on either side by US Hwy 101 to the west and SMART tracks to the east. Buses parked there include Marin Transit’s Rural and Muir Woods Shuttle Fleet, as well as four battery Electric Buses.While the site was adequate for use as is, Marin Transit planned projects to add electric bus charging to the site, and to replace the fence and improve lighting.Marin Transit continues to seek more land for the purpose of being able to charge the future fleet of Zero Emission Buses.Rush Landing Improvements ProjectsPhase 1 -ElectrificationMarin Transit worked with PG&E as part of it’s EV Fleet Program starting September 2020 to bring additional power to the site for the purpose of charging Battery Electric Vehicles. Marin Transit was responsible for all infrastructure beyond the PG&E meter including wiring, trenching, and the chargers. PG&E then brought the additional power to the site and installed infrastructure to the meter.Design work was completed through a contract with Mark Thomas and Co and Marin Transit’s construction broke ground on DATE through a contract with Arntz Builders. A delay in delivery of the switchgear due to supply chain issues resulted in a large delay for final delivery of the project. This phase was completed in October 2022.Phase 2 – Fencing, Landscaping, and LightingPhase 2 of the Rush Landing Improvements include replacement of the fence around the property with a more secure fence, updates related to Landscaping as required by the City of Novato, and improvements to the lighting at the site.A construction contract was awarded in December 2022 and construction will begin in January 2023. It is estimated to take about 2 months to complete.
