The purpose of the project was to support the availability of the workforce for IT companies, support the IT companies in cross-border cooperation and business activities, and profi le the university-level computer science education in Kajaani for cooperation with Russia. For that purpose, it was necessary to get to know the starting points for educational cross-border cooperation in the IT-sector, its needs and models of operations, and the starting points for educational and business cooperation extending beyond the border regions, its existing procedures, requirements and possibilities. Another aim was to identify the possibilities for new methods of working in the border region and supporting business activities, regional development and education. Th e project also wanted to fi nd ways to network with the other university units providing teaching and research in the Euregio Karelia region. Additionally, the project wanted to design an education package related to computer sciences in English, together with entrepreneurs, which would also involve students from Russia later on and which would profi le computer science teaching in Kajaani.
