Description
Description | The project involves an equity investment by IFC of up to $20 million to support Russian Towers’ plan to build a nationwide network of towers and lease the tower space to the Russian mobile phone operators. The Company is still in early stages of development, operating about 140 towers. Most of its existing and new towers are or will be sited in rural areas and on railway rights of way, by agreement with the national Russian Railway. By offering opportunities to co-locate telecommunications equipment owned and operated by several companies on a single tower, this project reduces the amount of land and other resources devoted to telecommunications in Russia. |
