Description
Description | The objective of the Support to Social Protection System Project (SSPS-I) is to support the Government of Rwanda's (GoR) efforts to consolidate, enhance efficiency and effectiveness, and expand coverage of its SP system. This operation builds on the Bank support to the social protection (SP) sector over the last six years with two main instruments namely: the Decentralization and Community Development Project (DCDP) and the Community Living Standards Grant/Credit (CLSG/C). The DCDP, a Sector Investment Project, supported the implementation of the GoR's second phase of decentralization reform and community development policy. The project specifically helped to build-up capacity for local government and citizenry to identify community priorities, develop and plan local programs, and contribute to their implementation and operation. The project closed in December 2010 and was successful in financing social and economic infrastructures that are now functional and fully integrated into the health and education sectors in which most of the infrastructures were selected. |
