Rwanda - Development Bank of Rwanda - Technical Assistance Grant

This intervention concerns the Development Bank of Rwanda Technical Assistance Grant. It aims to strengthen BRD’s capacity and to enable it deliver its development mandate more effectively and efficiently. BRD clients are mostly private entrepreneurs who are small and medium sized. The Government of Rwanda is aiming at developing an economy that is build around a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship whereby an expanded private sector can create jobs and increase opportunities for a large population of the country. It’s on this basis that BRD was created. The BRD, modelled after similar agencies in the emerging economies, especially Asia, is a new institution charged with the responsibility of leading the government of Rwanda’s effort to strategic growth and development principally through creating an environment for the thriving of SMEs. It comprises five main components namely: (i) Enhancing Operations; (ii) Financial Management, (iii) Enhancing IT Systems, (iv) Human Resource Support and (v) Project Management.
