Rwanda - Enhancing the quality of industrial policies in Rwanda

Enhancing the Quality of Industrial Policy (EQuIP) in Rwanda is designed to contribute towards a more inclusive and sustainable economic growth. The project will create a business enabling environment for the growth and expansion of businesses that will contribute to higher value addition, exports and employment generation in the economy. The project will respond directly to these needs by (i) enhancing the analytical capacity of key Government agencies such as the Ministry of Trade and industry (MINICOM), the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN) and to establish an industrial intelligence unit; (ii) increasing public-private coordination to improve the quality of industrial and private sector oriented policies; (iii) building capacity within the Government and private sector to implement, monitor and evaluate the industrial development strategies and policies. Project Main Components are: 1) Institutional capacity building to generate industrial intelligence and strategic analysis and establishment of an Industrial Intelligence Unit within the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) 2) Improving public- private sector coordination through an action oriented dialogue and identification of priority upstream reforms 3) Strengthening the policy implementation capacity and process with upgraded and a priority action plan, regulatory and legal framework & M&E system.
