Rwanda - The Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project Phase II (CEDP-II)

The Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project (CEDP) II aims to enhance enterprise competitiveness in Rwanda. It will promote private sector led growth for poverty reduction. The project focuses on two beneficiary institutions namely, the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and the Banque Nationale du Rwanda (BNR). Specific project outcomes include: (i) improved Doing Business indicators in particular: getting credit, protecting investors, and closing business; (ii) improved access to credit and financial information by investors and creditors, (iii) improved national enterprise development framework focusing on SMEs with special emphasis on women and youths, and (iv) risk-based banking supervision with road map towards Basle II. The project’s expected outputs include: RDB 5- Year Strategic Plan and Rolling Budget; resource endowment data base; investors’ outreach and after-care programme in targeted sectors; national framework for enterprise development with focus on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with emphasis on women and youths; credit and financial information data base; and better trained staff in risk-based supervision to prepare for Basle II critical requirements.
