Rwanda - The Support to the Science and Technology Skills Development Project

Support to Science and Technology (S&T) Skills Development Project aims to help Rwanda build capacity for skills development in science and technology by facilitating the opening of the Faculty within the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), and promoting female access to S&T fields at the tertiary level. The project is founded on results of studies related to skills development in the area of higher education, science and technology which have indicated the need for capacity building of institutions of higher learning. It will thus facilitate the formulation of reforms and strategies to strengthen science and technology in higher education on the basis of the knowledge built from these investigations and the implementation of the pilot equal opportunity program. This project consists of three (3) project components: (1) Delivering quality science and technology education and training; (2) Promoting equal opportunity and (3) Project management. Activities will cover the following areas: construction, equipement, training of trainers, tutorial programme for girls, IEC study, transfer of technology to rural communities and innovations with industries with the academia.
