The plant is located on the Rwimi River, along the border between Kasese District and Kabarole District. Sponsor for the project is the Sri Lankan hydro power developer, Eco Power Holding ltd. The financing comprises USD $5 million equity and USD $25 million debt. Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries (BIO) and The Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries (Norfund) acted as MLAs on the debt. Allen & Overy acted as lenders' legal adviser. Rwimi small hydro power plant (SHPP )is a 5.6 MW greenfield project with 2 turbines generating a total of 28 GWh per year. |
