The Second Public Works Project for the Republic of Yemen, which extends the ongoing Public Works Project (see report number 15357), aims to help mitigate the adverse affects of economic adjustment through poverty alleviation measures targeted to the country's poor communities. In addition to project management, which provides institutional strengthening as well as furniture, equipment, and vehicles, the two main project components are 1) community infrastructure, which consists of small-scale civil works in areas with above-average unemployment rates for construction, rehabilitation, and/or extension of infrastructure works; and 2) technical assistance and consultant services for project preparation and implementation.
