S-400 Air Defence Systems Acquisition and Integration

under construction

India is negotiating with Russia to acquire additional batches of S-400 long-range air defence systems beyond the initial five regimental sets ordered in 2018. The initial $5.4 billion deal included delivery of three systems by 2023, with two delayed due to the Russia-Ukraine war but now back on schedule. These systems are deployed strategically along India's western and northern borders and are being integrated with the indigenous Project Kusha to create a nationwide missile defence network capable of real-time data sharing and coordinated operations.
