S-Bahn Tunis - FöK SNCFT

The project supports the development of an efficient public transport system in Tunis. As part of the financing, 28 railcars will be purchased for the new urban railway in Tunis. On behalf of the German government, KfW Development Bank is contributing EUR 65 million to finance the railcars, which have a total value of EUR 162 million. Other donors are the European Investment Bank and the French development bank Agence Française de Développement (AFD). The project complements the construction of the first two S-Bahn lines (approx. 18.5 km long), which are financed by the same donor consortium and in which KfW is contributing a loan of EUR 47.0 million. A total of five S-Bahn lines with a total length of 85 kilometers are planned. They are intended to transport 350,000 people a day and slow the increase in car traffic.
