Description | Sun Pacific Energy Limited (SPEL) is an independent power producer (IPP) operating in Samoa. SPEL owns and manages 2.2MW grid-connected solar PV system in Upolu, Samoa''s most populous island. In 2016, Samoa''s Electric Power Corporation (EPC), the power offtaker, requested SPEL to expand the existing Upolu system by adding 1.8 MW capacity at the existing site. The small-scale project preparatory technical assistance (S-PPTA) was designed to support the technical, legal, environmental, and social due diligence to finance the expansion. The project reached financial close in September 2017. |
