The project involves constructing an approximately 6-km-long tunnel on the Kupwara–Karnah axis to make the avalanche-prone route navigable and safer, especially during winter months. The government has awarded the contract for the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR), and groundwork including geotechnical and geophysical investigations and alignment studies has commenced. The project aims to enhance road connectivity, improve safety, and support strategic and economic growth in the region. |
