Safeguarding Cultural and Linguistic Diversity in the Context of European Citizenship

The general objective of the project is to foster collaboration between farmers, public institutions, NGOs, and citizens to increase popular knowledge and understanding of the diversity of languages and cultures of Europe, and of the factors affecting their maintenance and growth. The project’s specific objectives are: 1. To identify and assess the information needs and limitations in partner countries which affect linguistic and cultural sector management and decision-making in the context of the future of Europe 2. To review and summarize various actions governments took to improve the knowledge and dissemination of the culture and history of the European people, promoting cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue as a catalyst for creativity within the Lisbon strategy for growth and employment 3. To evaluate the current means of communication of various information and services to communities in different regions of the EU, and, provide ways and means to implement new and/or appropriate tools for dissemination of timely and relevant information. 4. To promote new and innovative techniques for better awareness and utilization of informational knowledge for decision-making. The target group of the project are citizens from 5 partners from 3 European countries (RO, HU, SK ). The project aims to bring together citizens and decision makers at local and national levels to exchange and share their experiences and results on all aspects of the cultural and linguistic sector. It also provides an interdisciplinary platform for policy makers, citizens and civil society representatives to present and discuss the most recent measures and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the field. Themes for the event will revolve around the linkages between Issues and policy responses in the field which support contemporary and innovative initiatives that engender experimentation and renewal in languages and culture education.
