Description
Description | The SASCE2 project is the continuation of SASCE, an inter-faith cooperation between Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist and Christian religious communities to increase the protection of places of worship in Europe. Building on the cooperations, resources and networks established during the first project, it will seek to address current emerging and future threats to respond to the ongoing of surge of violent attacks on places of worship in Europe. To this end, the following activities will be carried out: - Develop a mobile security application to share real-time information, security advice and facilitate real-time reporting of hate crimes targeting religious communities and their places of worship. - Train a network of ambassadors to serve as multipliers and provide training to 120 cohorts of community leaders and 120 cohorts of worshippers. - Organise 7 differentiated conferences to strengthen security cooperation with public authorities and law enforcement, and between and within religious communities, including schools and other communal institutions. - Organise 2 specialised workshops to raise awareness of the protection of public spaces and its implications to the freedom of religion and belief. - Organise 2 dedicated trainings for professionals in the criminal justice system. - Conduct an online focus group to assess the security needs of the largest Christian churches in Europe. - Raise awareness of current and emerging threats to places of worship through 39 incident reports. The project aims to build resilient communities by empowering and standing in solidarity with each other and ensuring each other’s safety and security. The project will increase the level of protection of at least 127 places of worship in 16 EU Member States over three years. An estimated 9000 direct beneficiaries, including members of religious communities, public authorities, law enforcement, prosecutors and experts will benefit directly from the project. |
