The Safer Internet Centre Germany [SIC.DE] exists in its present form since 2008, uniting projects that were previously funded separately under the Safer Internet Programme. It encompasses: (1) the Awareness Centre klicksafe, a mutual project of the Media Authority for Rhineland-Palatinate (Medienanstalt Rheinland-Pfalz [MA RLP], project coordination) and for North Rhine-Westphalia (Landesanstalt für Medien NRW [LFM NRW]), to promote the topic of internet safety by developing awareness raising materials, organising campaigns and information events for the target groups (children, young people, parents, teachers, professionals working with children); (2) the Hotline services internet-beschwerdestelle.de (IBSDE), a mutual effort of the Association of the German Internet Industry eco (eco – Verband der Internetwirtschaft e.V. [eco]) and the Voluntary Self-Monitoring of Multimedia Providers FSM (Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle Multimediadiensteanbieter [FSM]) with their independent complaints offices, and jugendschutz.net [JSnet], accepting complaints on illegal and harmful internet content via reporting facilities for child sexual abuse materials, child sexual exploitation material, racism and xenophobia; (3) and the Helpline Nummer gegen Kummer [NgK], offering easily accessible counselling services (via phone and online) for children, youth, and parents on how to deal with cyberbullying, harmful contacts or other issues related to children’s use of digital technologies/services. SIC.DE will continue its well-established cooperations on regional, national and international level and the coordination of national activities for SID 2023/24. As an active member of the Insafe/INHOPE network, SIC.DE will contribute to the implementation of a European approach by sharing good practices and resources and taking part in European-level events. It will continue to cooperate with the well-established Advisory Board of national stakeholders as well as with the Youth Panel.
