Description

GDOT will use these funds to supplement the other federal funds set aside for Safety Improvements. Anticipated use will include funding for crash records location coding and other qualifying safety and Hazard Elimination Projects (HEP). A portion of these funds will be used to fund the Red Light Running Camera Program. Funds will be used for system development for electronic crash reporting. (No funds will be used for data entry of crash records). The Georgia Department of Motor Vehicle Safety will fund the following equipment: Laser Speed Detection Devices, Portable Breath Alcohol Testing Equipment (ALCO-Sensors). The Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) will use a portion of these funds to implement a pilot with the Georgia State Patrol to create a specialized traffic enforcement unit to address impaired driving and speeding in Metropolitan Atlanta. Funds will be used to implement Latino DUI Study in Metro Atlanta.
