Description

The project involves constructing three new modular seawater desalination plants in Morocco, specifically in Safi, El Jadida, and the surrounding areas of the OCP Group’s Safi and Jorf plants. Aimed at addressing water scarcity and supporting sustainable resource management, the project will have a combined annual capacity of 110 million cubic meters. Out of this, 75 million m3 or 205,479 m3 per day of drinking water will be supplied to Safi, El Jadida, and nearby areas, benefiting over 1.5 million people. The total financing for the project is $188 million, which includes $150 million from the African Development Bank, $18 million from the Canada – African Development Bank Climate Fund, and $20 million from the Clean Technology Fund. The sponsor and driving force behind the project is the OCP Group.
